Hey, how was your first Ankara Fan experience? Let me know in the comments below!

Here are some common mistakes you should most definitely avoid when making your Ankara or African-Inspired Fan. I outlined just three (3) of them.
  1. Try to minimize your glue as much as possible (I always emphasize on this! like always! I’m not sure but I think I even mentioned it in the video tutorial HERE
  2. Make sure you apply the glue carefully to the teeth of the fan. Avoid letting the glue spread to the lower parts of the handle as it makes your work not presentable.
  3. When placing the material on the teeth (after you’ve applied the glue), ensure its the wrong/ back side you place on the teeth and not the front part of the material. I almost made this mistake, infact I even made the mistake the first time I made my Ankara and I had to suffer for it as the glue stains were evident when I tried to correct it.

If you’re able to avoid these mistakes, making your Ankara Fan would be easy peasy!
